About being a background/featured artiste/actor If you are successful in gaining a place with VA Management, please make sure that you make a note of the following… Supporting Artistes There are three types of supporting artiste: Casting Process Firstly we will call you with an availability check for the specified filming dates. If you are free we will put forward your details to the Casting Director and await a decision. If you are successful and pencilled in as an extra for the job there will be no further casting process other than waiting for a final confirmation of the booking. Alternatively if the casting director is interested in seeing you as a featured artiste or for a walk on role you maybe called to attend a casting or audition. As soon as you have a booking for a job it is then an unbreakable commitment. If you are ill or unable to fulfil the commitment please try to give as much notice as possible. What to expect on set Please report to your named contact on arrival, this will usually be the production manager or a runner. You may need to see the Hair and Make-up departments depending on the production, if not then please remain in the area allocated to you and wait there until you are needed on set. It is useful to bring something to read as there will be long periods of time between scenes. Once filming is finished you must wait for the all clear given by your designated contact before changing, removing any makeup or leaving the set, as the production team will need to ensure no further retakes are needed. Then sign out with your designated contact. You may well be expected to find your own way home but if this is a problem then alternative arrangements can be made through your agent before the filming commences. The next day, please phone or email the office to confirm your working hours. Please let us know if you were upgraded to a featured artiste or a walk on role as you will be entitled to more money if this is the case.
